Composite Engineer

Chennai, India · Full-time · On site

Our airframes are carbon and glass composite, built in-house: hot-wire cut foam cores, wet layup, vacuum bagging. You will own how they are made as the craft scales from 300 kg to 3 tonnes, and keep the build moving at a new craft every few days.

What you'll do

  • Design and build composite structures: spars, wing skins, hull panels, bonded joints.
  • Choose fibres, resins and cores; write the layup schedules; size laminates with a calculation, not a guess.
  • Build tooling and moulds, and decide when we move beyond wet layup as parts get bigger.
  • Test coupons and parts, and feed the results straight back into design.
  • Make the structure survive salt water, spray and repeated landings on waves.

You might be a fit if

  • You have made composite parts with your own hands: Formula Student, BAJA, rocketry, drones, boats or industry.
  • You can explain from first principles why a laminate failed, and what you would change.
  • You want to build the largest thing you have ever built, and then one ten times bigger.
